Intensive Outpatient Services

Intensive Outpatient Services (IOP) is a clinical program for substance use. What makes it intensive is that it offers 9 or more hours of substance use treatment each week. These programs are run by mental health or substance use professionals that will help you to take a deep look at your substance use, how it has affected you, and how you want to live your life. While they are intense, they can be extremely helpful. There is no set length to how long this program has to be and is left up the discretion of the treatment provider. However, the program and recommended aftercare cannot be longer than 90 days. These programs are usually pricy due to the many services that they offer. Insurance usually does not want to pay more than 1-2 hours of treatment per week so the remainer is left to the client.

At this facility, you will receive professional mental health/substance use treatment as well as medical treatment as needed. Sometimes detox services will be needed. Once you have completed the program, you must complete any follow up recommendations (that are not longer than 90 days from the beginning of your treatment). Residential treatment can be very pricy, but there are more insurances that are willing to pay for residential treatment.
